Police hunt Ntcheu murder suspect

Ntcheu Police are hunting for Laston Matsoka who is suspected to have murdered his wife and their nine-month-old son.

According to Ntcheu Police officer-in-charge Griffin Mpumulo, the 30-year-old suspect, who comes from Kaimaima Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Ganya in the district, stabbed the wife, Tikhale, 30, and strangled the boy before wrapping the two bodies in a black plastic paper which he hid under maize bags in his house.

Mpumulo said the incident was reported to police by Village Head Kaimaima.

“After noticing that the deceased were missing, villagers searched their house where they found the two corpses under the bags,” he said.

Mpumulo said police are yet to establish the motive for the killings.

“We have not yet established the circumstances of the murder, but we suspect that the man committed the offence under the influence of alcohol and chamba,” he said.

The wife came from Kanjati Village in Senior Chief Kwataine in the district.—Mana
