Product Magazine Mid-Year Awards to Honor Businesses in SADC

The National Product Magazine Mid-Year Awards 2025 are shaping up to be a major celebration of businesses across Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique, with a strong focus on local industries.

This year’s awards carry the theme: “Connecting Industries, Fueling Exports: Enhancing Malawi’s Forex Reserves through Agriculture, Manufacturing, and Transport.”

The event will take place on June 14, 2025, in Lilongwe and will also mark the 115th issue celebration of the magazine, a huge milestone in promoting business growth.

According to Arthur Chinyamula, Managing Director of National Product Magazine, this year’s awards are focused on Malawian businesses, which will take up 70% of the nominations, while also recognizing outstanding companies from neighboring countries.

“We want Malawi to be an exporting nation, and that’s why we are encouraging key industries to work together. Agriculture provides raw materials for manufacturers, and transport plays a big role in moving products both locally and internationally. If we strengthen these industries, we can boost our economy and forex reserves,” said Chinyamula.

Who’s in the Running?

More than 96 businesses have been nominated, ranging from small startups to large corporations. The voting process will begin on March 28 and run until April 15, 2025.

People will get a chance to vote for additional businesses and individuals in categories such as:Best Agricultural Exporter, Most Innovative Manufacturer, Best Transport & Logistics Company, Entrepreneur of the Year, Best CEO in Business Excellence and Quality Product of the Year among others.

Chinyamula also emphasized the importance of using locally sourced raw materials, saying it will help reduce forex spending and increase export opportunities.

“If our companies use local resources, we will save forex and increase exports, which will ultimately strengthen our economy,” he added.

A Night to Remember

The gala event will feature a red carpet experience, product showcases, business networking, and speeches from industry leaders.

To make the night even more special, there will be live performances from Malawian music star Lulu and an international artist, who will be revealed soon.

“We want to reward businesses for their hard work over the past six months. It’s not just about winning awards—it’s also about creating opportunities for businesses to connect and grow,” Chinyamula said.

How to Vote

Voting will be done online, and the official voting link will be released soon on the National Product Magazine website.

With businesses from across the SADC region participating, the 2025 Mid-Year Awards are set to be a major event, celebrating hard work, innovation, and the power of local industries in driving Malawi’s economy forward.
