Computer Clinic is set to implement a Digital Malawi Project in Dowa District to equippeople with computer skills.
Speaking on Thursday before Dowa District Executive Committee, the organisation’s communications specialist Hazviperi Mbizi said computer literacy is essential as the world is embracing technology.
She said: “We are living in an information and communications technology [ICT] driven world where computer literacy is a necessity.

“However, we understand that not everyone has an opportunity to have computer skills. That is why we are coming with this project.”
Mbizi said they will conduct an ICT literacy awareness campaign and conduct computer lessons for four weeks for learners.
“The four-week digital skills training will cover modules such as computer literacy, programming, graphic design, microsoft packages and entrepreneurship,” she said.
On his part, one of the DEC members Dan Kalimbuka said the project will help improve computer literacy skills, especially among the youth in the district.
“However, I ask the organisationto reach people in rural areas with the computer skills,” he said.
A youth Henry Break from Traditional Authority Msakambewa said he was eager to register to attend the lessons.
“We are living in a digital world and it is imperative for the youth to gain ICT skills. I urge my fellow youths to seize the opportunity to gain computer literacy,” he said.
The Digital Malawi Project is implemented under the Public PrivatePartnership Commission with an oversight from the Ministry of Information and Digitisation to contribute to the country’s digital transformation.
