Queens to face Englandin first Quad Series match
Malawi Queens will face hosts and the world’s fourth-ranked England in their opening match of the Quad Series on February 1 at Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham.
The four-nation tournament also involves other African giants South Africa’s Spar Proteas and Uganda’s She-Cranes.

The seventh-ranked Malawi National Netball Team’s second match will be against Uganda the next day before facing South Africa on Saturday, February 8.
The tournament will be played on round robin format and the top two teams will clash in the final on Sunday February 9 while the third-and fourth-placed teams will meet in a third-place match earlier on the same day.
Meanwhile, a 21-member Queens’ squad was expected to regroup yesterday in Blantyre to kick-start preparations for the tournament.
Queens’ co-coach Mary Waya said the tournament will help the team through exposure and adapting to tactics and formations.
“It will also help us to work on our weak areas, refining our strategy while optimising team performance to ensure a more cohesive and effective performance,” she said.
Last week, Netball Association of Malawi general secretary Yamikani Kauma said they expect the team to perform well at the tournament.
She said the team’s rebuilding drive should not be an excuse for dismal performance.
“We will not accept excuses for poor performance because the team has ample time for preparations,” she said.
