Rainbow Paints will consider Southern Region Netball League (SRNL) vice-chairperson Isaac Chimwala’s suggestion to make some of the outstanding players in the Rainbow Paints Netball Top VI Series as the event’s brand ambassadors.

The leading paint manufacturer’s sales and commercial manager Bruno Silas hinted at this on Tuesday morning when relaunching the second edition of the series at the Blantyre Youth Centre. The series sponsorship has since been hiked from K1 million to K2 million.

“We will look into this request and see if we can have such players on board. Let me assure you that as long as there is good organisation of the tournament, we will continue to sponsor netball,” Silas said.

He was responding to Chimwala who cited Escom Sister’s Jessica Mazengera as one of the fruits of the inaugural Rainbow Paints’ edition. Escom are the defending champions of the cup whose champion will this year pocket K250 000. The competition throws off this Saturday at the junior level.

“Jessica Mazengera one of the players in the series went on to book herself a place in the national team. This is no mean achievement. It will just be proper for Rainbow Paints to promote such a player individually by adopting her as the face of Rainbow Paints when promoting its products with the company taking care of her sporting needs at the club and national team level,” Chimwala said.

Until recently, Mwawi Kumwenda and earlier Hellene Mpinganjira used to be brand ambassadors for Universal Industries brand products such as Frooty.
