One of the Alliance for Democracy (Aford) presidents Frank Mwenifumbo says he has lined up various reforms the party has to undergo to rebuild and give it a national face.

He said this on Saturday when he chaired his camp’s National Executive Committee in Mzuzu.

He said he wants the party’s constitution to be reviewed so that it is in line with political developments that have taken place in the country.

The Karonga Central legislator proposed rotational presidency for all the three regions to be given a chance to rule.

Mwenifumbo pledged to call for a convention every two years instead of once in four years.

“We did not have a smooth convention. There were people who wanted to join the party before the convention but were discouraged by the fighting. So, I want us to hold a peaceful convention where people will come in large numbers to contest even for the party’s presidency,” said Mwenefumbo.

Reacting to the reforms, the vice president in Chihana’s camp, Precious Chisi rubbished the ideas saying Mwenifumbo has no right to make decisions on Aford matters. He also rebuffed Mwenifumbo on reunion, saying as far as he and others are concerned, Mwenifumbo and his camp are not Aford.

Meanwhile, Mzuzu University Aford wing has thrown its weight behind Chihana saying Mwenifumbo and his camp are being paid to bring confusion in the party.
