SA second tier side signs Atusaye

Silver Strikers forward Atusaye Nyondo is expected to return to South Africa after clinching a deal with that country’s National First Division outfit Casric Stars FC.

The South African lower league side has since asked for Football Association of Malawi (FAM) to issue an international transfer certificate (ITF) for the veteran striker.

Nyondo was not available for comment on Wednesday. But FAM competitions and communications director Gomezgani Zakazaka confirmed being contacted by the club on the ITC.

Silver chief executive officer Patrick Chimimba also confirmed having parted ways with Nyondo and that he is now a free agent.

He said: “Atusaye Nyondo’s contract with Silver Strikers ended on December 31 2024.”

Casric Stars earned the National First Division promotion after purchasing franchise from Free State Stars before the start of the 2022/23 National First Division season.

Founded in 2012, Casric Stars are based in kwaMhlanga, Mpumalanga and their home ground is Solomon Mahlangu Stadium.

Nyondo is no stranger in South African football, having spent over 10 years in the Rainbow Nation.

The former Flames forward began his career with Silver in 2007 and signed his first deal with a foreign club in 2009 when he joined South African National First Division side Carara Kicks.

He spent two seasons playing for Kicks where he won the 2010/11 Golden Boot with 15 goals.

Nyondo joined SuperSport in 2011, spending just a season of his two-year deal before being loaned to Pretoria University in 2013/14 season.

A season later,  he made a permanent move and stayed in Pretoria for two seasons.

In 2016, he moved to Bloemfontein Celtic where he stayed for three seasons.

In February 2019, he signed for Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila F.C. on a one-and-a-half-year deal where he reunited with compatriot Joseph Kamwendo.

However, he terminated the contract just a few months into the deal due to unpaid dues..
