The Satema CCAP Women’s Guild of Blantyre Synod last Saturday cheered female prisoners at the Zomba Maximum Prison as one way of giving them spiritual and physical hope.

Led by Reverend Nellie Nyoni, the group preached the word of God that emphasised on the love and care God renders to His people and hence her church emulated this divine example.

Afterwards, the women’s guild served the inmates with cooked rice with chicken and vegetables.

“This is one way of showing the love of God to these inmates as we believe that healthy people can contribute to the services of God better,” said Nyoni.

She encouraged the prisoners to devote themselves in serving God if He is to perform wonders in their lives.

Speaking on behalf of fellow inmates, Jennifer Kambalame commended the women’s guild for the visit and presents they brought them. She said it demonstrates that the visiting women really care for the livelihood of the inmates.

She said her spiritual life has grown through frequent visits by religious groups, adding that many inmates have been reformed through such interaction.

Apart from sharing prayers and food, the women’s guild also donated assorted clothes to the inmates.
