Silver Strikers FC Sunday evening called for a crisis meeting following a string of poor results that culminated into Saturday’s TNM Super League 0-1 defeat at the hands of Mighty Wanderers at their own backyard in Area 47 in the capital.

The Bankers’ chairperson McDonald Mafuta-Mwale on Sunday hinted that heads would roll as it was now evident that the Super League champions have terribly lost their way.

“The situation is unbearable, things are getting out of hand and it is time to make a move.

“We have an executive committee meeting this [last] evening where tough decisions will be made because we cannot go on setting targets,” said Mafuta-Mwale.

He also said while the coaching panel should take the blame for the team’s poor showing, the players’ commitment is also questionable.

“The team is playing well, but we are failing to score. Apart from the midweek game against Epac, Saturday’s game was the seventh in which we haven’t scored.

“So, players should also share the blame because there are some who are not giving out their best and there is no reason to keep useless players.

“There must be something that is going through their minds. So, we’ll review the situation this evening,” said Mafuta-Mwale.

Coach Franco Ndawa declined to comment on the team’s poor run and Sunday’s meeting that was supposed to determine the coaching panel’s destiny.

“I do not think I am in a position to comment on the issue now,” said Ndawa from Zomba.

Sunday’s crisis meeting came barely a week after the team’s executive committee summoned the technical panel over continued poor performance.

After that meeting, Silver’s general secretary Mike Tembo said they would not entertain continued poor results.

Silver are on eighth position with 13 points from 10 games. They have won three, drawn four and lost three.
