Songwe itch to finish 1st round with a win
Rookies Songwe Border United are itching to bag their first full points as they wind up the TNM Super League first around against Mighty Tigers at Karonga Stadium this afternoon.
It has been a rocky ride with bouts of despair for the Karonga-based side which has a point from 14 matches, earned in their one-all draw against fellow strugglers Mzuzu City Hammers, who are second from the bottom.

They have lost their other 13 matches.
It is one of the worst first round runs in the domestic top-flight, but in an interview yesterday, their coach Christopher Nyambose said they will be out to wrap up with a win.
He said: “It has been a tough ride for us as we have not won a match. However, we will go flat out for a win tomorrow [today].
“A win could be a big motivation and boost our confidence.”
However, the Ndenga boys gaffer admitted that it will not be a stroll in the park against 13th-placed Kau-Kau Boys, who are tied on points with 14th-placed Moyale Barracks and PremierBet Dedza Dynamos, who are 12th.
“It is a tricky fixture for us because Tigers are not doing badly and have registered some good results. So, we’ll have to be at our best,” said Nyambose.
On the other hand, Tigers technical director Robin ‘Abambo’ Alufandika said they are taking the game seriously.
“We know it’s not going to be easy because Songwe will be fighting to finish the first round with a win which could provide some hope for them,” he said.
“We are ready for them and the team is already in Karonga, working on the final touches.”
In other matches this afternoon, Ekhaya FC host Mafco FC at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre while Moyale take on Dedza Dynamos at Rumphi Stadium.
