Has had clearance revoked: Salimu (Front) featuring for Kamuzu Barracks

Kamuzu Barracks (KB) have been dealt a blow following the Super League of Malawi (Sulom) directive to stop featuring midfielder Harvey Mkacha and defender Mustafa Salimu for failure to pay Silver Strikers a balance of K700 000 for the two players.

In a letter dated October 7, addressed to Silver Strikers general secretary Mike Tembo and copied to Kamuzu Barracks vice-chairperson Lieutenant Duncan Justin Taipi and Football Association of Malawi (FAM) general secretary Suzgo Nyirenda, Sulom have instructed KB to obey the directive.

“Following the complaint from Silver, we wish to advise that Harvey Mkacha and Mustafa Salimu should stop herewith from being featured until such a time Kamuzu Barracks will honour their obligation of K700 000 [about $1 750],” reads the letter signed by Sulom general secretary Williams Banda.

Because of failure to pay the outstanding amount, Silver wrote Sulom on Tuesday to cancel clearance of the said players.

“This is to inform you (Sulom) that Kamuzu Barracks have failed to pay us by close of business today. Can you, therefore, implement our request by cancelling the clearance of our players, thus Harvey Mkacha and Mustafa Salimu,” reads a letter from Silver general secretary Mike Tembo.

KB had written Sulom and Silver promising to pay the outstanding amount last Friday, October 4, but failed to do so.
