Sunbird Tourism Limited,  sponsor of Malawi’s music talent search, Sunbird Search for a Star (SSS), have announced audidion dates for this year’s competition.

SSS will start auditioning prospective contestants in the competition on 21 July at Sunbird Ku Chawe followed by Mangochi at Sunbird Nkopola Lodge on 23 July before auditioning in Mzuzu at Sunbird Mzuzu on 25 July.

Lilongwe prospective contestants will be out to test at Sunbird Lilongwe on 27 July before SSS invades Salima at Sunbird Livingstonia Beach on 29 July. Blantyre host the audtitions at Sunbird Mount Soche on July 31.

In an interview with The Nation, Sunbird Tourism Limited marketing manager Titania Katenga-Kaunda promised a bigger and better season of the competition calling for all that are above up to 35 and are willing to compete in the talent search, to come to the auditions in their area on specified dates.

“This competition has proved to be a good platform for the company in corporate social responsibility and visibility of the Sunbird brand.

Chairperson of E Wallet Felix Njawala expressed gratitude to Sunbird for the sponsorship and said that they are ready to give their audience a better season than the first one.

He said they have improved some elements of the show, claiming that they learnt a lot from the first season of the competition.

“Contestants will start to use live a live band from the beginning to the final show and we have changed our criteria of auditioning and selecting winners so expect quality contestants this season,” said Njawala.
