France-based Malawian women’s football star Tabitha Chawinga on Saturday took her tally to 18 goals in the French Women’s First Division Arkema League to create a six-goal gap at the summit of the leading scorers’ chart.

The Malawi Women’s National Football Team captain drew first blood for her team Paris Saint Germain (PSG) Feminine as they were held to a three-all draw against a strong-willed Guangamp.

Has kept the goals flowing: Tabitha

Guangamp, who are 10th in the 12-team league, twice came from behind before taking the lead late into the match, but the Parisians equalized to earn a point.

In a match monitored on PSG TV, Tabitha showed class by defying an acute angle to score the opener with no sweat, no fuss.

PSG remain second on the log table with 49 points from 20 matches, six behind leaders Lyon, who had a game in hand going into on Sunday’s match against Saint Etienne.

Tabitha has now scored 27 goals in all competitions, having scored four in the Coupe de France in which she is the joint leading scorer and five in the Uefa Women’s Champions League, including a strike against Manchester United in the preliminaries. She could not be reached for comment on Sunday.
