Team entertainers to set M1 CP ablaze

It is not every day that three or more established musical acts perform together, but the Utsi Tulukanso Concert under Entertainers Promotions is set to write a new piece of history.

The entertainment stable has pooled together the creme de la creme on the local music scene for a music feast set to take place at M1 Centre Point in Lilongwe on Sunday.

The reggae lions of Chileka  Black Missionaries, Anthony Makondetsa, local music godfather Sir Paul Banda, Coss Chiwalo, Paul Subiri, the legendary Alleluya Band, 6 Solid Band, Key Man Noah, Ras Hope, among others, will be on call.

Makondetsa: We hope to go one step better

Entertainers Promotion Jai Banda said as usual they will not compromise on standards as they aim to bring out the best musical entertainment with the blend of both new and old artists they have on the menu.

“The team is leaving today to start preparations for setting up the stage in readiness for the Sunday show. We want the lighting to be impeccable just like we did at the Sand Music Festival, replete with stage effects, smoke and bubbles,” he said.

Banda said in view of the weather and the incessant blackouts, they have made special arrangements for tents where people can hide in case and a standby generator.

He said: “We are encouraging music lovers to come as early as 2pm. Our intention is to set a mindset change within people to be coming to the shows early so that we avoid getting late into the night. Security will be tightened as always.”

Meanwhile, Makondetsa, who recently released his Ndagwira Mbendera album, has assured music lovers in Lilongwe that they are coming to the capital with one mission; to conquer it.

“Traditionally when Team Entertainers puts together a show you know there will be fireworks. We last collaborated with them during the Kuimba 11 launch at Lilongwe Golf Club and it was electric. This time around at Centre Point we hope to go one step better,” he said.

On his part, Chiwalo said being a clash of music giants, the Balaka team has tried hard to up their level too so that come the day they should give their fans the best.

He said: “This will not be a small occasion. That we know. Looking at the names assembled, you get an idea of how big this party will be. The idea is to try and give our best during the time that we will be allocated.” n
