They now have an unassailable 45 points from 16 games, 12 points above second-placed Jiangsu Suning. Both teams have two games before they wind up the season.

It was a weekend of missed fortunes for Temwa’s team who suffered their first league defeat on Friday to Changchum Dazhong Zhuoyue who beat them 2-1.

The 24-year-old Malawian also leads the scorers’ chart with nine goals, a goal above her sister Tabitha and Chaquin.

Tabitha is currently on loan at Italian Women’s Serie A outfit Inter Milan .

In an interview yesterday, the former Kvamsvedens IK and DD Sunshine striker said she was excited with her latest feat.

She said: “It feels really good that we have won the league for all the three seasons that I have been with the club.

“To me, it means I am adding value and that’s what matters.”

Temwa said despite sealing the title, they will still fight to win their remaining games.

“The target was that we shouldn’t lose any league game this season, but it didn’t work out that way and we have to accept that is it part of the game,”she said.

National Women’s Football Association chairperson Suzgo Ngwira said they are proud of Temwa’s exploits.

“Just like her sister, Temwa has proved to be a world-class player and it won’t be long before European clubs start chasing her signature,”she said.

In July this year, Temwa also inspired Wuhan to win the Chinese Women’s National Cup by claiming a brace in their 3-0 win over Beijing in the final.

She also won the tournament’s Golden Boot Award with six goals.
