Three Malawian teams invited for friendlies in Mozambique
Three Malawian clubs have been invited to Mozambique for pre-season international friendly matches scheduled for this weekend.
Mighty Wanderers and Civil Service United will participate in a mini tournament involving Uniao Desportiva (UD) Songo and Chingare in Songo Cahora Bassa.
Creck Sporting Club have also be invited for international friendly matches against Club Ferroviario of Lichinga in Niassa Province.
The Lilongwe-based outfit yesterday confirmed the invitation in a statement.

“We, as Creck Sporting Football Club, have received an invitation from Club Ferroviario of Lichinga, Mozambique to participate in a two-day football tournament in Mozambique,” the statement reads in part.
The club said the invitation is also one way of strengthening its relationship with international clubs.
“This is one way of creating partnerships with the neighbouring clubs, especially our Mozambican counterparts.
“The invitation has come while we are preparing for the 2025/26 football season.”
On his part, Wanderers chief executive officer (CEO) Panganeni Ndovi said the invitation is timely as the Nomads are tuning up for the 2025 season.
He said: “We look forward to participating in the tournament. We believe this is the perfect way of gauging our readiness for the coming season.”
Meanwhile, FCB Nyasa Bullets have turned down the offer, saying they would rather concentrate on playing local clubs.
Said the club’s acting CEO Albert Chigoga: “We were invited to take part in the mini tournament. However, our pre-season preparations do not allow us to travel as we committed to play some friendly matches locally.”
The 2025 football season will kick off on March 29 with the NBS Bank plc-sponsored Charity Shield between TNM Super League champions Silver Strikers and Castel Challenge Cup winners Wanderers.
The TNM Super League will kick off a week later, according to Football Association of Malawi.
