With the prospects of employment narrowing for prospective graduates in the country, Alfred Benito, a fresh graduate, decided not to go the conventional route of seeking employment. He opted to become an entrepreneur to create jobs for his fellow youth.

Thus, immediately after he completed his studies, Benito went into business.

He says, failure to get a decent job was the main driving force behind the birth of Zikomo Advertising Agency in 2010, although its inception did not have adequate capital.

Zikomo Advertising Agency has been operating for three years now, and it is one of the local companies that boast of acquiring vast experience in advertising and selling goods and services on behalf of companies.

The company challenges it can sell any product or service no matter how difficult they can be to sell.

“At Zikomo Advertising Agency, we believe in market dynamics. Because of this, the staff is trained in all issues regarding sales and marketing,” Benito explained.

Among major projects, the company was behind the whistle-stop tours by Safintra.

The youthful entrepreneur is determined to create more job opportunities for the Malawian youth through Zikomo Advertising Agency.

“Currently, I’ve 46 young men and women working for the company. But chances are high that more jobs will be created because of the contracts I am winning,” he promises.

The agency recently won a contract to sell Safintra products and services.

“We would like to develop this company so that one day it can generate income for the country and provide more job opportunities,” he says.

“But for us to realise our dream, we need local support. People should give consider our business. We offer quality services, but at affordable and negotiable prices. We strive for customer satisfaction,” he said.
