Youth group appeals for support in cleanup campaign
Timasukilane Youth Club has called on local authorities and stakeholders to support its environmental cleanup initiative, citing a lack of essential resources to sustain the exercise.
The appeal was made on Tuesday during a cleanup campaign organised by the group in its community, aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and hygiene.

Speaking during the event, Timasukilane Chairperson Ruben Mwakalinga said the youth-led initiative is driven by a desire to create lasting change, but it is being hampered by resource limitations.
“As a group, we are determined to drive positive change in the community and are passionate about keeping our environment clean and healthy. However, we need resources to effectively carry out our cleanup exercise and make a lasting impact,” Mwakalinga said.

The campaign drew participation from community members, demonstrating growing local support for environmental stewardship.
Commenting on the initiative, Eva Sanga, Field Officer for Partners in Climate Change, commended the youth club for its commitment to environmental health and expressed optimism about future collaboration.
“We are proud to partner with local youth groups like Timasukilane. Their grasa sroots efforts are instrumental in raising awareness and creating real impact. We will work together to secure resources and amplify their efforts,” Sanga said.
The Timasukilane Youth Club continues to champion environmental action, and its call for support reflects the broader need for collective responsibility in tackling climate change and waste management challenges at the community level.
