Kamlepo Kalua

A member of the ruling People’s Party (PP), I would not claim that Malawians will not support the candidacy of UDF president Atupele Muluzi and his DPP counterpart Peter Mutharika on the basis that they are practising what I described as “politics of dynasty”.

If I were ‘Tchwee mwana tchwee!’ I would realise that the reasons I gave were flimsy, coming from a seasoned politician like me.

If I were the former Malawi Democratic Party (MDP) president, I would appreciate that just because Atupele’s father and Peter’s brother were presidents of this country, does not mean that they cannot run for presidency in Malawi.

I would appreciate that it is simple logic that as citizens of Malawi, they are free to aspire for the position as long as they meet the requirements, which do not include the reasons I am giving.

That is if I were my man Kamlepo. Fortunately, I am not ‘Tchwee mwana tchwee!’
