Mpira TV grosses K525m
Football Association of Malawi-owned Mpira TV has registered a 71 percent surge in gross revenue while net revenue nearly doubled to 93 percent, the channel owners have announced.
Gross revenue rose from K307 million in 2024 to K525.7 million in 2025 while net revenue increased from K140 million to K271 million.

Production costs rose by 25 percent to K254 million, but FAM says this was outpaced by the rise in revenue.
FAM has since attributed the surge in revenue to a rise in subscription for the channel which is available on StarSat, Zuku and Azam Television platforms.
FAM marketing and communications manager Mayamiko Kafwamba said between 2024 and 2025, the number of subscribers rose from 131 730 to 236 716, representing an 80 percent increase.
He said this is due to improved market penetration and increased interest in the channel among football fans.
Across revenue streams, StarSat remained the dominant contributor, growing by 74 percent from K174 million to K302 million while Zuku TV increased by 61 percent from K60 million to K97 million.
Azam TV emerged as the fastest-growing platform, surging by 140 percent from K25 million to K60 million.
“We are satisfied with the increase in subscriptions and we remain hopeful that more people will continue to join the platform which will help us maximise revenue,” said Kafwamba.
Meanwhile, the increase in revenue translated to higher distributions to stakeholders.
The top-flight league clubs shared K217 million, up from K112 million in 2024 while FAM and Super League of Malawi (Sulom) got K54 million each.
Sulom president Gilbert Mittawa in an interview yesterday said they are satisfied with the revenue.
“This represents considerable progress, but we know we can do much better and that’s our objective for the coming season,” he said.
