Tabitha says has belief in Scorchers
France-based Scorchers’ captain Tabitha Chawinga says she has the belief that the Malawi Women’s National Football Team will do well at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The Scorchers trump card said this after the team’s recent two international friendlies against Tanzania in Dar es Salaam where they won one and lost the other.

“It will be the our first appearance at the Wafcon and considering the preparations we have had, I believe we are ready. The team is ready,” she said.
“I believe God is on our side and we will give it our all.
“What the girls need now is the encouragement from everyone as we count down to the tournament. We will not look down upon ourselves.”
The 30-year-old also said the friendlies they have played have given the coaches a picture of the team’s shape.
After the second friendly against the Twiga Stars of Tanzania on Saturday which ended goalless, head coach Lovemore Fazili also said his charges are ready for the continental showpiece.
He said: “As we head to Morocco next month, I believe we are ready.”
Fazili, however, admitted that there are some shortfalls which have to be worked on between now and next month.
The tournament will run from July 25 to August 16 and Malawi are in Group C alongside reigning champions Nigeria, Zambia and Egypt.
Group A has hosts Morocco, Algeria, Kenya and Senegal. Tanzania, South Africa, Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso are in Group B while Group D has Ghana, Mali, Cameroon and Cape Verde.
