Khwisa in Balaka will be a centre of activities starting this Thursday as over 100 youths from District One of the Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church are trekking to the place for their evangelism and mini-camp scheduled for July 24 to July 28.

District One comprises Mankhamba, Nasolo and Ndirande SDA churches in Blantyre. Thus, 100 girls and boys from the three prayer houses are expected to ride the train to Balaka where they will spread the advent message to people in the area from Thursday to Sunday.

The district secretary, Comrade Chimwemwe Kuvungatinta, said train ride evangelism is one of the important youth ministries in the SDA communion as it gives young leaders an opportunity to actively serve the Lord through preaching and prayers.

Kuvungatinta said during such activities the youths are also drilled in principles and values relevant to their Christian faith.

He said this year’s evangelism and mini-camp will revolve around the role and responsibility of the youths in propagating the word of God.

“Our themes are ‘get out of doors and preach, be sober and vigilant and the youths transformed.’ These themes are in line with the roles and responsibilities that the youths are supposed to carry in the church,” he said.

According to Kuvungatinta, every rider will pay K4 000 to cater for food and transport.

“Our mother churches are contributing the rest. Otherwise, we couldn’t have a successful camp with this amount,” he said.

While in Balaka, the youths are expected to spice up their evangelism with a donation of various items such as sugar, soap and clothes to the needy living at Khwisa and the surrounding villages.
