Airborne open five point gap in CRFL

Airborne Rangers beat Dedza Young Soccer Stars in Salima on Sunday to open a five-point gap in the K6 million Chipiku Central Region Football League (CRFL).
The Salima-based soldiers now have 54 points from 26 games.
On second position are Lilongwe-based Hardknockers on 49 points, following their 2-0 win against Alinafe Stars.
In an interview on Monday, Hardknockers patron Anthony Msukwa expressed optimism that his side will play in the TNM Super League next season.
“When we played Airborne in the first round in Salima, the game ended in a 1-1 draw. In the return match, we beat them 1-0. The only side we are wary of is Kasungu Police. Playing them away is tough because of biased officiation,” said Msukwa whose side play Namitete today at the Lilongwe Technical College.
Airborne on the other hand, have a tough fixture against Maicc FC in Mponela today. The result of this game will have a strong bearing on Airborne’s title ambition.
Mchinji Ranks are at the bottom of the table with 22 points. Black Eagles and Dedza Strikers, who are tied on 24 points, are fighting relegation.
Other fixtures today: Mchinji Ranks vs Kasungu Police @ Kasungu, Kasungu Medicals vs Support Battalion @ Dowa and Dwangwa United vs Alinafe Stars @ Dwangwa.
