Both Airtel Top 8 semi-final matches will be played in Lilongwe, according to a fixture released by the Football Association of Malawi (FAM).

Silver Strikers will host Blue Eagles in the first semi-final slated for June 9 at Civo Stadium while the second one, featuring age-old rivals Nyasa Big Bullets and Be Forward Wanderers is slated for Bingu National Stadium on June 16.

FAM competitions manager Casper Jangale said with no indications that Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre will be ready anytime soon, the association’s competitions subcommittee scheduled it for the capital city.

“We have no communication from government, who are the ground owners as to when exactly the stadium will be ready and decisions on venues for matches are at the discretion of the organising committee,” he said.

Nevertheless, Bullets and Wanderers team managers James Chilapondwa and Stevie Madeira repectively, boasted, in separate interviews, that they have no problems playing the derby elsewhere because they have fans all over the country.
