Of these, Magombo, Simbi, Singo and Mwaungulu passed trials after assessment by senior team coach Kallisto Pasuwa.

Nyasa Big Bullets chief administration officer Albert Chigoga said the reserve side was serving its purpose.

He said: “The reserve side is designed to feed the main team. If some players have failed to make it into the main team, we let them play for other Super League teams either on loan or through permanent transfers. And then we keep scouting for new players for the second tier division side.”

Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves coach Enos Chatama congratulated the graduates on their promotion to top-flight league.

He said it will take two years to rebuild the team that can fight for honours in the ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League.

The 14 players were key in one Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves’ most successful seasons in 2021 which saw them winning four silverwares.

They won the ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League Championship, Powertex Top 8, Nyasa Capital Cup and Aubrey Dimba Trophy.

Chatama said they have started preparations for the new season as the rebuilding process takes shape.

Soccer analyst Kelvin Moyo applauded Bullets for taking a leading role in accomplishing Confederation of Africa Football and Fifa club licencing requirements.

He said: “The primary objective of a youth side is developmental—which is grooming talent.”
