Blantyre votes


Unofficial results from all 13 constituencies in Blantyre city and rural give the incumbent President Peter Mutharika a slender lead over Tonse Alliance candidate Lazarus Chakwera.


According to unofficial results, Mutharika amassed 158 075  of the vote followed by Chakwera at 142 989. Mbakuwaku Movement for Development candidate Peter Kuwani came third with 1 844. 


During the disputed May 2019 elections, Mutharika scooped 197 633 votes and was followed by Saulos Chilima, who represented UTM party, with 117 880 votes. Chakwera, who contested on an MCP ticket, was third with 38 306. 


Blantyre registered 498 999 voters, the highest in the Southern Region.
