CCAP targets K30m in cycle for charity
The Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) says it expects to raise about K30 million from a 1 000-kilometre cycle from Kaporo in Karonga to Marka in Nsanje to finance various charity initiatives within the church.
The Reverend Nase Chunga of CCAP Livingstonia Synod Lilongwe congregation, who is one of the organisers, said the cycle will start from Kaporo on July 16 is expected to end on July 27 in Marka.
“The cycle will be led by the Reverend Charles [Chuck] Monts from the United States who will be joined by Hamilton Michongwe, a 34-year-old second year theology student at Josophat Mwale Theological Institute.”
The cycling, categorised in three regional phases, is aimed at raising funds for various charity activities in facilities of the church.
He said: “Cycling through the Northern Region will be for the purpose of raising donations for hospitals and other health facilities within the Synod of Livingstonia while in the Southern Region, cycling will be for the purpose of raising donations for the Blantyre Synod’s relief efforts to aid victims of Cyclone Freddy.”
Chunga said well-wishers in the Northern Region should deposit funds labelled ‘Bike Malawi 2023’ to CCAP Health Coordination Office account number 398683 at National Bank of Malawi (NBM) Mzuzu Service Centre whose Swift code is NBMAMWMW/009.
He said: “In the Central Region, well-wishers should deposit funds labelled ‘Bike Malawi 2023’ to Josophat Mwale Theological Institute, NBM account number 1004272858 at Gateway Service Centre, Swift code: NBMAMWMW/008.
