Creck cancel Mozambique trip, Nomads face Chingare

Creck Sporting Club have cancelled their trip to Mozambique where where they were expected to play an international friendly match against Club Ferroviario of Lichinga in Niassa Province.

The Lilongwe-based  TNM Super League club’s board chairperson Muhammad Seleman said they decided to cancel the trip due to insufficient information from the hosts.

“He said: “After the invitation to travel to Mozambique to participate in the bonanza, we asked our hosts for more information.

“But up to now we have not received any response from our hosts. In such a situation, we can’t just start off without full information on the trip.

“We have, therefore, decided to concentrate on playing against local teams in preparation for the coming season.”

Creck has since announced that they will play a friendly match against PremierBet Dedza Dynamos tomorrow.

A statement from the club reads in part: “Creck Sporting club will be on the road on Sunday in a pre-season tour against league counterparts PremierBet Dedza Dynamos.

“This will be the fifth training match for Creck SC after playing Mafco last week in Mponela.”

The club said head coach Joseph Kamwendo was concentrating on the team’s performance rather than the results.

Meanwhile, Mighty Wanderers yesterday left for Mozambique where they are expected to participate in the Songo International Mini Tournament involving Uniao Desportiva (UD Songo) and CD Chingare in Songo Cahorabassa.

The Nomads will this afternoon face CD Chingare in the first fixture at Campol Sul Stadium.

But Civil Service United, who were invited for the same competition, were yet to confirm if they would travel to Mozambique.

The Civil Servants on Thursday announced they had decided not to travel to Mozambique for security reasons.

But reports yesterday indicated that the club had changed its plans and would travel to the neighbouring country.

FCB Nyasa Bullets also turned down the invitation to participate in the mini tournament and opted to concentrate on playing local clubs, according to the club’s acting chief executive officer Albert Chigoga.

Bullets will tomorrow play a friendly against Kamuzu Barracks at Champions Stadium in Mponela, Dowa.

The 2025 football season will kick off on March 29 with the NBS Bank plc-sponsored Charity Shield between TNM Super League champions Silver Strikers and Castel Challenge Cup winners Mighty Wanderers, while the TNM Super League will kick off a week later.
