Local sensational acoustic act, Edgar ndi Davis, says fans should gear up for a busy festive season as the group has lined up several shows, especially in Lilongwe and Blantyre.

Speaking on the sidelines of an Edgar ndi Davis perfomance, in conjunction with Giddes Chalamanda, held at Club XL along Chikhwawa Road in Blantyre on Saturday, a member of the duo Edgar Kachere said plans are at an advanced stage to hold the shows as part of Christmas and New Year festivities.

“We will have two to three shows in Blantyre and Lilongwe at venues to be announced soon. After this show, we will have a follow-up performance here in Blantyre. The owner of this place [Club XL], Richard Makondi, called me a short while ago to say he is impressed with the turn-out and wants another show soon.

“We normally do not have too many shows, but we have good audiences wherever we go. Last time we performed in Balaka and the audience was marvellous,” he said.

Commenting on the performance by Chalamanda’s son, Cliss, who curtain-raised the show, Kachere described him as “a promising young guy who wants to take his father’s legacy to greater heights.”

During the show, Edgar ndi Davis played several songs from their latest album, Energy Saver to give the patrons a feel of the new compilation.

The title track, Energy Saver (Ntchito Zina), is a classic example of Edgar ndi Davis’ trademark of poking fun at daily social issues.

The song talks about the temptations people doing different jobs such as Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (Escom) agents, tailors and priests face in the course of discharging their duties.
