Effie Namwali Foundation (ENF) on Monday donated a set of uniforms and match balls to ENF Falcons netball and ENF Eagles women’s football teams.

During the donation at January Primary School in Thyolo, Major Buxton Namwali (retired) said this was part of the family’s efforts to develop sports in the area.

Major General Namwali presents a ball to one of the beneficiaries.

He said: “This is an initiative of my sons and daughters who live in the US as well as those who live here to assist the local community. We didn’t expect that what they have offered would receive overwhelming response. We have a lot of youths who are literally doing nothing. So this will help them to be busy.”

During the event, the foundation also donated T-shirts to outstanding Standard Eight learners at January Primary School.

In his remarks, January Primary School head teacher Hostings Chole applauded the Namwali family for helping the community.  Former Malawi National Football Team player Mphatso Namwali and his brother Jeremy launched the foundation in January this year.
