Famers have been urged to use new and improved agricultural technologies as one way of achieving food security. Station manager for Makoka Agriculture Research Station, Dr. Alfred Mtukuso, said this on Thursday during a field day tour organised by the station. Mtukuso said the ministry advocates any efforts to develop technologies that will enable farmers to obtain higher and quality yields. He also said the wish of the station and Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security is that all technologies developed by the department are environmentally friendly.—BOBBY KABANGO, Staff Writer

Charters key to quality service delivery

Salima District director of planning and development Blessings Nkhoma has asked the media to sensitise the public to the need to have service charters to enhance improved service delivery. He made the call last week when a Balaka-based publishing house, Montfort Media Limited, briefed Salima district executive committee (DEC) on a new media awareness campaign on accountability of service providers towards service users. A service charter is a covenant made to service users about the services they expect to get from those in authority. It is intended at improving quality and accountability of public services.—BARTHOLOMEW KAWINA, Correspondent
