Genetrix Ladies and Men’s-A teams were engulfed in euphoria at the College of Medicine (Com) Sports Complex on Saturday as they beat Falcons Ladies 9-0 and Braves Men’s B 6-0 to make a head-start in the inaugural Hockey Association of Malawi (Ham) Indoor Tournament.

After the games, the players and the fans could not resist the temptation to celebrate. A section of male players took off their jerseys and swung them in the air.

Fainala Kalinga of Genetrix Ladies was probably the most excited player, when she scored six of her team’s goals. Asante Kagwada had a brace in the Genetrix Men’s A triumph whereas Kundai Mbawala scored twice as Braves Team A beat Falcons 5-0.

“We outplayed them. It is a remarkable achievement for our team to win with such a margin,” said Kalinga.
