Big Bullets coach Gerald Phiri Snr has predicted doom and gloom for the People’s Team if they do not put their house in order.
Phiri said this on Friday soon after their final Super League game which ended in a goalless draw at Civo Stadium. He also announced his resignation as Bullets mentor.
Bullets have finished a distant eighth position with 41 points and Phiri attributed the team’s poor showing mainly to internal wrangles.
“There are so many in-house problems ranging from internal squabbles to players’ welfare and if the situation is not addressed, the team could end up playing in the lower league,” said Phiri.
However, Phiri said it was an honour to serve as Bullets coach.
“It was quite a difficult season in that the team did not live up to expectations, but I had the support from the executive and the fans and as I bow out, I would like to thank them all,” he said.
Phiri’s announcement comes barely a week after the team’s technical director and former coach Eddingtone Ng’onamo also announced that he would not extend his romance with the team.
Recently, chairperson Malinda Chinyama and general secretary Higger Mkandawire also announced that they will not contest for positions when the club goes to the polls during off-season. n
