Vice-President of the Republic of Malawi, I would not stoop so low as to order the Ministry of Justice to revive Consumers Association of Malawi (Cama) executive director John Kapito’s case just because he was championing the January 17 consumer demonstrations.

If I were the Vice-President, I would appreciate that I once again goofed by using the State machinery in an attempt to shut up Kapito.

How I wish I were the country’s second citizen, because I would realise that gone are the days when political leaders applied intimidatory tactics in order to silence dissenting views.

If I were my man KK, I would also swallow my pride and accept that Justice Minister Ralph Kasambara’s reaction to my statement that the ministry does not act on such political directives, exposed me big time.

If I were bwana Kachali, I certainly would take time to dig deep into my heart and conduct some soul-searching on my political statements which are becoming costly and embarrassing not only to me but also my boss, President Joyce Banda.

If I were Kachali, I would seriously consider easing down a gear on my political outbursts.
That is if only I were the country’s Veep, but fortunately I am not Khumbo Kachali.
