Life Pump Water Project hailed
Mchinji district water development officer Mike Chilim’madzi has commended the Life Pump Water Project for addressing water challenges.
Speaking on Monday during the launch of the life pump water facilities installed by Design Outreach in partnership with Water Mission Malawi, he said the pumps are effective and need low maintenance.
Said Chilim’madzi: “Their parts do not wear out quickly, so people will not repair them regularly.
“The other advantage is that the facilities pump more water in a short time.”
On her part, Design Outreach regional director (Centre) Beatrice Chisenga said when they install the life pump, they train people on its management and maintenance.
She said: “The water table in most parts of Mchinji is low; hence, the need to install the life pump which goes down three times deeper than the standard borehole.
“The life pump is different from the normal Afridev borehole as it can pump water from a deeper point.”
Group village head Chisenga commended Water Mission Malawi and Designer Outreach for installation of the life pump.
Water Mission Malawi funded the installation of the life pump to the tune of K3.5 million.
