The Live Wise and Die Ready tour which features various urban gospel artists from the continent, was first held on Friday 9 September at the College of Medicine Sports Complex in Blantyre.

Some of the artists that headlined the concert were, David and KBG from Malawi; DJ Easy from Capetown, South Africa; Abel Chungu from Zambia, and other artists from Malawi such as Faith Mussa, Black Flame, Gospel Song and Unique1.

The organisers of the event and artists could not keep time as the show that was slated to start at 7 pm started at 9.05 pm—almost 2 hours late.

Mussa almost stole the show as he got the audience going nuts with his new song Desperate. Mussa almost made the crowd forget about the headliners of the show with his performance. He heightened the craze in the audience when he performed Pamudzi Pano Ndichokapo, a traditional beat.

KBG performed songs from his latest album which was released the same day. He also performed some songs from his previous albums and mix tapes. Soon after KGB, David Abel Chungu and DJ Easy arrived on stage.

David gave a very touching performance as he started his performance with a tribute to Wisdom Chitedze a gospel artist who died in 2010. David was very polite to apologise for their delay before performing songs from his latest effort titled Exodus.

“We apologise for being late, we had problems at the borders, but we would also like to thank you for your patience and we don’t take that for granted. You are an amazing audience,” said David.

After David, Abel Chungu from Lusaka Zambia did not disappoint—he gave a soulful yet lively performance and the audience could not help but sing along with the Zambian artist.

The tour was sponsored by Airtel and Sunbird Hotels and Resorts.
