LWB launches new plan, promises improved service delivery
Lilongwe Water Board (LWB) last week launched its LWB Strategic Plan and Customer Service Charter 2020-2025 with a call to improve waste water management and customer satisfaction.
Speaking during the launch in Lilongwe last week, the board’s chairperson Engineer George Kajanga said the new strategic plan, a successor to the 2015-20 Strategic Plan, will also focus on improving water supply in its catchment area.
He said: “We will provide a pay-up service for sewerage so that is it fully managed, people will be charged for these services.
“We also hope that in future, this sewerage will be used to produce manure.”
As a means of meeting some of their goals, LWB has since taken charge of the Lilongwe City Council waste water management service.
Meanwhile, Minister of Forestry and Natural Resources Nancy Tembo has commended LWB for its efficient and effective service delivery.
She said her ministry will continue supporting water boards in the country as they deal with various challenges.
