MAGLA, SULOM in k40m deal
Malawi Gaming and Lotteries Authority (Magla) has signed a K40 million year-long partnership with the Super League of Malawi (Sulom) on Goal and Save of the Month Awards.
The award will see a goalkeeper with the best save and scorer of the best goal monthly earning K1 million each.
During the partnership agreement signing in Blantyre yesterday, Magla director general Muchanakhwaye Mpuluka said the partnership aims to motivate players in the FDH Bank Premiership and create awareness about responsible gambling.

“As Magla, we would like to motivate players to give their all during matches and sensitise the public on the importance of being responsible when gambling,” he said.
“As you know, football attracts a lot of people some of whom engage in gambling. We would like them to understand that while they do sports betting, they should also know that they have responsibilities of taking care of their families.”
Sulom vice-president Ronald Chiwaula described the agreement as more than just a sponsorship arrangement, saying it is a demonstration of confidence in Malawian football and a clear commitment to the development, promotion and celebration of excellence within the game.
He said: “We are proud that Magla has chosen to partner with us in recognising and rewarding outstanding performances from our players throughout the 2026 football season.”
“This will encourage creativity, discipline, hard work and professionalism among players. These awards will give deserving athletes the recognition they deserve while also enhancing fan engagement and excitement across the league.”
Chiwaula also thanked FDH Bank plc for allowing them to bring other partners on board.
“Football is a powerful tool for unity, inspiration, and national pride. Every weekend, thousands of Malawians gather in stadiums and communities to support their clubs and celebrate the beautiful game. Through this partnership, we are not only rewarding talent, but also motivating players to consistently raise the standard of competition,” he said.
