If I were

Maxon Mbendera

Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) chairperson, I would admit that the tripartite elections were a shamble that has led to a lot of confusion among citizens.

If I were the senior counsel that is Mbendera, I would admit that MEC is largely responsible for the current mess considering that the irregularities started right at the beginning of the process.

I would appreciate, if I were Mbendera, that when some stakeholders raised concerns about irregularities, I insisted that everything was on track; but now everything is backfiring.

How I wish I were the MEC head, because I would realise that when a centre had thousands more voters than the actual registered voters, then something is terribly wrong. I would admit that when there are allegations that a party monitor signed for a number of polling stations instead of just one, then it speaks volumes about the mess that is the 2014 Tripartite Polls.

That is if only I were one Maxon Mbendera. Fortunately, I am not the dude!
