Northern Region Presidential netball defending champions Mimosa Queens are now free to use centre court Stella Kamanga and shooter Sala Nkhata after paying K600 000 (about $1 500) for their transfers from Davie Lameck Sisters.

National team player Kamanga and Nkhata started training with Mimosa Queens, sponsored by Mzuzu City Member of Parliament Professor Peter Mwanza, two months ago.

In an interview on Tuesday, Sisters team manager Funny Bwengu Kumwenda confirmed that Mimosa were now free to use the two players.

Mimosa Queens manager Tamara Fweta and general secretary Josophine Mkandawire said they also want to sign Lameck’s defender Tiwonge Magwegwe Nkosi on loan, but the effort was being frustrated as their rivals are demanding a similar amount.

Meanwhile, the Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) general secretary Carol Bapu confirmed that her office is aware of the transaction and is only waiting for its 20 percent cut to process the transfers.

Kamanga said she is happy to play for Mimosa.
