The ministry has since called on key stakeholders, including local government authorities and district commissioners, to support the implementation of the exercise, describing it as a critical step in building a more responsive and resilient health system.
Malawi Health Equity Network executive director George Jobe said the proposed health staff redeployment and transfers within the Ministry of Health and Sanitation must be assessed based on the underlying intention.
He said if the exercise, indeed aims at addressing equity gaps by ensuring a fair distribution of qualified health workers across the country and to safeguard progress towards UHC, then exercise is a commendable and necessary step.
