Miss Teen Malawi enters next phase
The inaugural Miss Teen Malawi pageant has entered its second phase as organisers revealed 15 finalists have proceed after in the the competition with mentorship and advocacy activities.
Speaking in an interview, Miss Teen Malawi organiser Ngugi Chimwemwe Buleya said they are now focusing on planning the event while looking for financial support to ensure that the first edition is successfully conducted.

“We finally have the top 15. So, we are proceeding with planning the event and seeking support to make it a success,” she said.
Buleya said the finalists will take part in a series of activities to equip them with life skills while promoting issues affecting teenage girls.
The programme will include mentorship sessions, advocacy campaigns against teen pregnancies, team-building exercises, school visits, cultural activities and charity work.
Buleya said the competition will also feature elimination stages before the grand finale.
In a previous interview, project manager Thoko Kuwali said the pageant was a significant empowerment platform for teens as it will allow them to build self-confidence and other skills.
“It is a good space for them to gain public speaking skills and others rather than just beauty,” she said.
Kuwali also encouraged parents to support their children, saying the pageant offers opportunities for personal growth, networking and cultural representation beyond traditional beauty standards.
