More‘happiness’for Nyerere

Mighty Mukuru Wanderers supporters have more reasons to smile after their side yesterday registered a second consecutive victory when they defeated stubborn Crerk Sporting FC 3-0 at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

Straight from their 3-0 thrashing of Fomo FC, the Nomads were in a class of their own as they handed Creck their first loss to go top of the TNM Super League table with seven points.

Right back Stanley Sanudi opened the scores in the 20th minute from the spot after a foul in the box on left back Timothy Silwimba.

Striker Christopher Kumwembe made it 2-0 in the 35th minute with a powerful header from Sanudi’s corner kick.

The two goals caught McDonald Mtetemera’s charges by surprise and at half-time, he had to make some crucial decisions in order to mount a come-back.

He introduced George Chaomba, Hardy Ng’andu and Ademola Ajibola for Akuzike Lifa, Gift Kadawati and Tathedwa Willard.

He also brought in Arnold Kiyama and Yasin Chida for Dalitso Nahipa and Frank Phiri.

However, the Nomads were in no compromising mood as they added one more in the 88th minute through Gaddie Chirwa who was played in by Wisdom Mpinganjira.

In post-match interview Mtetemera admitted that his charges were out of sorts.

He said: “We were completely down. It’s very unfortunate. Anyway, we will go back and correct the mistakes we made so that we can bounce back in the next game.”

For Wanderers assistant coach Meck Mwase, it was a mission accomplished.

He said: “Congratulations to the players for their hard work. What we did was to let them have courage to play and score goals and win the game.”

In other matches played yesterday, Kamuzu Barracks defeated Fomo FC 2-1 at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.

Moyale Barracks also collected full points after defeating Civil Service United 3-0 at Mzuzu Stadium.
