Mr and Miss Kuhes 2025 crowned

Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (Kuhes) Sports Complex in Blantyre was set alight with excitement on Monday evening when it hosted the Mr and Miss Kuhes contest.

Apart from selecting the winners, the event also delivered a night of talent, elegance and inspiration.

The event was held under the theme ‘Service in grace, beauty with purpose’ and it was a celebration of intellect, advocacy, and student creativity.

Contestants showcased their fashion, talent and visions for a better campus, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats from start to finish.

During the contest, first year bachelor of pharmacy student Madalitso Matumba was crowned Mr Kuhes 2025, while Sikwendi Joy Mufuna, a first year bachelor of science in Nutrition and Dietetics student claimed the Miss Kuhes 2025 title.

Matumba said the title was a testimony of the value of hard work and dedication.

“I am very happy. This title shows I can achieve anything as long as I put my mind and effort into it,’ he said

Matumba said that during his reign, he will focus on mental health awareness, highlighting the importance of emotional well-being among students.

On her part, Mufuna said her win was a dream and promised to support needy students on campus.

“It feels really great. I have always loved modelling and pageants. This was truly a dream come true,” she said.

Kuhes entertainment director Daniel ‘Pluto’ Thindwa praised the professionalism displayed by the contestants and organisers.

“This year’s pageant has been professional and exciting. The students came well prepared,” he said.

Thindwa said the competition aligns with the university’s goals for student development, giving students opportunities to try new things, gain extracurricular experience and earn money for their empowerment.

“We will work with the winners and listen to their grievances. We will support them in the best way possible,” he said.

The pageant was spiced by a performance from Bwede, who did some of his popular songs such as Ng’ona. Trappy Beats and Malimba Music also took to the stage.
