Mvula leads in rebounds, 3rd on scorers’ chart

England-based netball star Joyce Mvula sits pretty at the pinnacle of the rebounds chart of the United Kingdom Netball Super League (NSL) with 18.

She made the grade after registering 10 rebounds in her team Leeds Rhinos’ 71-57 defeat to her former side Manchester Thunder, who are now joint top with London Pulse on 12 points, having won all their four matches apiece.

On the other hand, Birmingham Panthers goalkeeper Jasmine Brown  and Nottingham Forest shooter Jayda Pachova are joint second with 13 rebounds each.

The Malawi Queens’ star shooter is also third on baskets converted with 161 goals from 207 shots, representing an 84 percent accuracy.

She trails leading scorer Thunder’s goal attacker Elmere  Van Der Berg who has 194 goals with an 87 percent accuracy.

London Mavericks’ goal shooter Emily Andrew is second with 186 goals from 228 shots, translating to 89 percent accuracy.

Despite Mvula’s individual brilliance, Rhinos lie sixth in the eight-team league with five points from five matches.

Lexis Nexis anchor the table with no point from four matches.

Mvula, who turns 30 tomorrow, could not be reached for comment yesterday.

She is one of two foreign-based netballers, the other  being Australia-based Mwawi Kumwenda.

The lanky shooter played for Thunder for six seasons from 2017 to 2022, winning two league titles in 2019 and 2022, then had a stint with a New Zealand top side Central Pulse before returning to England to join Rhinos in 2023.
