Mzati to launch afro jazz album in September
As more young artists are leaving no stone unturned to make a breakthrough in the music industry, an upcoming music star Mzati says he has joined the music industry to make a difference through the new album he is set to launch in September 2017.
Born Alinafe Light Chiwanda, Mzati started his music journey in 2008 as a hip hop artist, but later on switched to afro Jazz.
In an interview with Malawi News Agency (Mana), Mzati said he decided to go for afro jazz to enable Malawians to appreciate their rich culture.
The 23-year-old artist explained that the album has 14 tracks. He said the songs are in both Chichewa and English to cater for different classes of people.
“I have done this album titled This is Malawi [TIM] to promote our culture besides giving people entertainment.
“Many artists these days are preoccupied with promoting foreign culture at the expense of our own,” said Mzati whose favourite musicians on the local scene are Patience Namadingo, Faith Mussa and Lucius Banda.
During the launch, the album will be supported by other artists in the likes of Sam Shawa, Wachituta, Jamal Mlaka Maliro and other upcoming artists.n
