New Bullets CEO promises to deliver

 Newly appointed Nyasa Big Bullets chief executive officer (CEO) Escort Chinula has promised to spearhead the team’s commercialisation drive.

Chinula was unveiled on Friday replaces Fleetwood Haiya who has taken up the post of managing director at Bullets sponsors Nyasa Manufacturing Company (NMC).

In an interview the acting CEO said he will do his best to help the team achieve its mission of becoming one of successful teams in Africa both financially and performance wise.

“We will not lose focus on our mission and I thank the club for having trust in me.

“I’m not a stranger to Bullets. I will take up from where my predecessor left and bring in fresh ideas as well,” Chinula said.

Haiya said Chinula’s main job is to improve the People’s Team commercialisation drive and bring in money and partners to the TNM Super League champions.

“Chinula has been with us for the past two years and we are confident that he will help to take the club to greater heights. However, he will be confirmed at board level during a meeting that will be convened soon,” he said.

When asked why they have just appointed an insider and someone who is also NMC head of finance and administration instead of going by their recent adverts for the post, Haiya, who was accompanied by Bullets chief administration officer Albert Chigoga and supporters director Stone Mwamadi, said they were disappointed with the preferred candidate.

“At least 34 individuals were shortlisted and 10 made it into final interviews. However, the one we opted for did not get good feedback from his referees and the board advised to get someone from within our system,” he said.

Mwamadi has since appealed to the Bullets supporters to welcome the club’s new boss.

“During the time he has been with the team, Chinula has proved to be a hard worker. He is fit for this position and I plead with the supporters to welcome and treat him with the same respect they had for Haiya,” he said.
