NGO donates reusable sanitary pads to girls in Karonga
Helping Your Community Forum, a non-governmental organisation, has donated reusable sanitary pads to 66 girls at Lupembe Primary School in Paramount Chief Kyungu in Karonga District.
The donation coincided with the World Menstrual Hygiene Day commemoration on Tuesday,

The forum’s German-based ambassador Sabrina Buesing said they donated the sanitary pads because some girls cannot afford to buy them as such they miss classes when on their period.
She said: “We established that many girls were missing classes during menses due to lack of sanitary pads. We decided to come in with these sanitary pads to bridge that gap.”
The forum’s founder David Ghambi said they have now donated to about 672 girls in six schools in Paramount Chief Kyungu.
“Our aim is to ensure that everyone has an equal footing to education. We noted that most of the times girls and boys are not at par when it comes to class attendance,” he said.
One of the beneficiries Tyness Kayuni thanked the organisation for the donation, saying they will no longer miss classes due to lack of sanitary pads.
