NGO empowers young women in Rumphi
God Cares Rights Foundation has urged young women in Rumphi District to make informed decisions to achieve their goals.
The organisation’s executive director Agnes Mughogho said this on Tuesday in the district during a three-day training of young women on gender-based violence.

“To fight gender-based violence successfully, young women ought to make their own decisions and not wait for older people to think on their behalf,” she said.
Mughogho said the young women can only do that if they acquire proper knowledge and guidance; hence, the training.
Rumphi District Council community development officer Robert Chidothe said young women are energetic and can influence change.
He said they should be treated as everyone else because they have the ability to do what everyone can.
One of the participants, Dorothy Chavula, said the training will help them face challenges they face such as gender-based violence, discrimination and inequality.
“As young women, we face a number of challenges, including defilement, rape and other forms of violence that prevent us from realising our goals,” she said.
With funding from Women Peace Humanitarian Fund through UN Women, Centre for Civil Society Strengthening, God Cares Rights Foundation is implementing a 22-month Lwande Lithu (Young Women 4 Conflict Prevention and Response) project in Rumphi District to enhance efforts to support and facilitate a transformative conflict prevention movement.
The project is targeting girls selected from area development committees
