A man was found dead in a police cell at Nsiyaludzu Police Unit in Ntcheu.
Ntcheu Police spokesperson Gift Matewere said Willie Kadziwe, 47, was found hanging on Tuesday.
“The deceased was arrested on Sunday for wounding his wife,” said Matewere.
He further said Kadziwe, who hailed from Bwese Village in Traditional Authority Phambala’s area in the district, used a piece of blanket to hang himself.
“He was alone in the cell and took advantage of that situation to hang himself,” he said.
The body was later taken to Ntcheu District Hospital for a post-mortem.
